Double podium finishes at Anderstorp!

For Robin Knutsson, it was just a chance to get into the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia premiere at Anderstorp ahead of a season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. But after qualifying 3rd for race 1 and on pole for race 2, the WestCoast Racing driver showed that he had taken several steps forward for 2024 and could this weekend, for real, challenge for the top positions:

– I knew that I had developed and hoped to have strong speed, but I didn’t dare to expect too much. After the training sessions, I knew that we could aim for the top 3, if not even more.

In race 1, Robin held his third place from start to finish and expectations grew for race 2 when he started in pole position:

– After the podium in the first race, all that mattered was winning. After the start, I got a gap back and knew that I was the fastest. I didn’t want to risk too much and braked a few meters earlier in turn 2, but unfortunately I braked on a bump that made the car unstable and locked the front tires.

The unlocking caused Robin to lose the lead down to third place. A position he held until the last lap when an incident in front lifted him to second place at the finish. But after the weekend he still sees a positive development:

  • I am very disappointed with the mistake – but it also says a lot about my development, a second place is a result that I had done everything for last season.

Team manager Dick Jönsson Wigroth looks back on a weekend that is the start of a journey with Emma but which is also starting to show the results of several years of work with Robin. – Robin proves that the old cliché – “The more you practice, the better you become” – is true!

Robin already has a race next weekend at Spa-Franchorchamps in the Benelux series.
